When to Schedule Landscaping Services on the South Shore
South Shore landscaping is seasonal. The right timing can help your lawn recover from winter, keep plantings healthy through summer, and prepare your property before leaves and cold weather arrive.
Spring: March through May
Spring is the busiest time for many local landscapers. Homeowners often schedule yard cleanup, bed edging, mulch, pruning, lawn repair, seeding, and planting. If your property has winter debris, plow damage, or compacted soil, this is the time to address it.
- Clean up leaves, branches, and winter debris.
- Edge beds and refresh mulch.
- Repair bare lawn areas and consider overseeding.
- Inspect drainage issues after snowmelt and spring rain.
Summer: June through August
Summer is about maintenance and moisture management. Lawns can become stressed during hot, dry stretches, especially in sunny yards or sandy coastal soils.
- Keep mowing on a consistent schedule.
- Water early in the morning when needed.
- Monitor weeds, pests, and brown patches.
- Plan patio, walkway, and larger outdoor projects before fall rush.
Fall: September through November
Fall is one of the most important seasons for South Shore yards. Cooler temperatures make it a good time for aeration, overseeding, and lawn recovery. Leaf cleanup is also essential so grass does not get smothered heading into winter.
- Schedule leaf removal before heavy buildup.
- Aerate compacted lawns.
- Overseed thin areas.
- Cut back perennials and prepare beds for winter.
Winter: December through February
Winter is quieter for landscaping but useful for planning. If you want a patio, planting redesign, drainage improvement, or major cleanup in spring, winter is a good time to request estimates before schedules fill up.
Local Planning Tip
Coastal towns may need extra attention to salt exposure, wind, and drainage. Inland towns with wooded lots may need more frequent leaf cleanup and brush management.
